The Shiva Lingam are sacred stones in Hindu religion. Shiva Lingam is found only in Onkar Mandhata, a sacred site on the Narmada River in Western India. Natives gather stones from the riverbed and polish them by hand. Shiva Lingam is made of basalt, agate and jasper debris combined with cryptocrystalline quartz and iron oxide. It has a very distinctive elongated shape. Shiva Lingams stones are found in a variety of sizes, with some reaching ten feet tall. An ancient meteorite reportedly hit the bed of the Narmada river over 14 million years ago in Madhya Pradesh, leaving behind microscopic debris. It’s not just the stones that are believed to have healing properties, but the entire river as well. Throughout history, pilgrims from all over the world have made pilgrimages to the river.
